New Initiative - Workforce Development
Workforce Development has been a theme at our last two annual and policy conferences One of the corollaries for job creation through business investment is the need for a trained or trainable workforce. CDCs know the local landscape and can help organize coalitions to support employees. They also can provide linkages to Welfare to Work and programs funded through TANF.
With the support of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, a complete five panel track on Workforce Development was presented at the 2000 Annual Conference in New Orleans. The highlights of this track were taped and are available by___________
Manufacturing and Workforce Development
As noted in the discussion under Manufacturing, our first collaboration with the National association of Manufacturers centers on Workforce Development. The CPP staff wants to identify CDCs with land available for manufacturing and existing workforce linkages. Please call the CPP staff contacts if you want to explore this project.
