John Metzger is an assistant professor in Urban and Regional Planning at Michigan State University where he specializes in real estate and economic development. An expert in community reinvestment, Dr. Metzger has provided technical assistance to a wide range of organizations including CDCs, public housing tenant management corporations and other public and private-sector entities. He has extensive experience with regard to planning and implementing commercial real estate, economic revitalization and small business development projects. Dr. Metzger assisted city officials to develop public deposit reinvestment programs and monitored and coordinated the implementation of a five-year $109 million neighborhood lending agreement with a local city bank. He was a President's Fellow, Columbia University, 1990-1991 and was the winner of the 1985 Edward McClure Prize from the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning in a national competition for best master's student paper in planning.
