Abel Valenzuela is an Assistant Professor at the Cesar Chavez Center for Interdisciplinary Instruction in Chicano/Chicana Studies at the University of California at Los Angeles. Dr. Valenzuela's areas of research are in the fields of urban poverty, immigration, community and economic development, employment and wage inequality, employment and training programs and urban and regional economies. He is currently directing a study on "The Productive Economic Impacts of Latino Immigrants on Communities and their Surrounding Regions." Dr. Valenzuela has authored several articles and has two works forthcoming, including, "Determinants of Employment and Earnings Among the Native and Foreign-born Latino." Dr. Valenzuela has also worked with National Council of La Raza and MALDEF.
